a very scarce program, for "the first full-length musical written and played by blacks to be performed at a major Broadway house"--Gerald Bordman, 'Musical Theatre, a Chronicle,' (N.Y., Oxford University Press, 1978). In Dahomey opened in New York in February of 1903, running for 53 performances (considered a hit) to April 1903. The company then toured Great Britain later in 1903.
